| Death sentence for top NLFT leader
- Agartala, Nov10 One of the most important leaders of
the militant outfit NLFT, Mr. Ashok Debbarma has been awarded the
death sentence for his involvement in the Jarulbachai massacre on
February 1997 in which 16 persons including women and children were
killed. This is the first time that a death sentence has been awarded
to a militant leader in the north east. Mr. Ashok was considered
one of the most dreaded militant of the region. Gandhi Debbarma,
an accomplice of the leader was also found guilty by the court although
no verdict was announced since he is still absconding.

insurgency problems in the state, the tourist traffic is back into

| Border tension between Mizoram
and Assam - Aizawl, Nov 9 :- Unauthorised persons checking
vehicles in the Mizoram Assam boarder at Bairabi has given rise
to fresh tension between the states. The controversy started when
the Hailakandi district's deputy commissioner has placed a sign
showing "Welcome to Assam" on the banks of Bairabi on
the outskirts of this village. The Bairabi village Council considers
the far bank of the stream to be a part of Mizoram.

| Ghosts attack Guwahati residents!
Guwahati, Nov 9:- Residents of Ward Street of Ujan Bazar
are in Guwahati are having regular attacks from unseen source which
some people have considered as attacks by Ghosts. Since last Saturday
the population is regularly be harassed by barrage of bricks, bottles,
tiles and other objects. Residents confirmed that the attacks goes
on regularly at a house that is hosting some pujas at the moment.

| 21 hurt in bomb blast at Thangal
bazar, UG killed in follow up action by police Novembor 09:-
A bomb blast at Alu Galli, Thangal bazar this evening left atleast
21 people injured including several women and children. Condition
of some of the victims is said to be critical. Soon after the blast
the police went for a combing operation by cordoning off the area.
A suspected underground activist was killed at Kalibari, Thangal
bazaar during the operation.

| Special fund to revive ailing
tea industry in Assam Guwahati, November, 08:-
The Union commerce ministry is considering setting up of a special
purpose tea fund to revive the ailing tea industry in Assam and
elsewhere. Under the project the tea industry will undergo massive
rejuvenation and re-plantation program.

state police Agartala, November 06:-
The state police will soon migrate to a new system of communication
to prevent leakage of police
conversation. The system is known as "pool Net" and will
be introduced soon in all the police stations of state Tripura.
