Court precincts Scrutiny unearths 'lapses' in Nagaon, Nov 17
Over 250 candidates, who had made it to the panel for recruitment
of constabulary in Assam,
stormed into the Guwahati High Court precincts today and shouted
slogans in favour of their appointment. The candidates, who had
staged a dharna at Dispur yesterday in protest against the delay
in their appointment, threatened to go for self-immolation if they
were not appointed soon.

New use for old police vehicles Itanagar,

carrying medicines in some of its vehicles for the aid of patients
of this hilly State situated in a highly seismic zone and with poor
road connectivity.

state celebrated the "Maha Raas" festival in Tripura on
Tuesday. The festival is celebrated every year on the full moon
night of "Kartik Purnima" to mark the love life of Lord
Krishna. Girls dressed in traditional dresses thronged local temples
to pray.

No takers for "Paisa" Guwahati,
Nov 16
Coins of lower denomination are fast becoming passé in the
Northeastern state of Meghalaya.
While the bankers attribute the growing aversion of the people towards
the coins as the probable reason for the passe, the administrators
in the state cited the non-availability of the small denomination
coins like that of 50 paise, one rupee and two rupees as the cause
for the passé of the coins in the state. To help the coins
regain its pristine glory, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is planning
to set up four coin dispensation machines in different locations
of capital city of Shillong.

She's only eight years old and has already won four bravery awards.
The latest was at the auditorium of the Directorate General of Assam
Rifles (DGAR) in Shillong recently. She was given
commendation cards and a medal.
