Smuggler killed in Jatrapur border Agartala, Nov 26

A smuggler was killed by the BSF personnel at Birampur under Jatrapur police station in an ambush on wee hours of Friday. Police said, a BSF patrolling party posted at Birampur area, witnessed a group of 30 smugglers trying to cross the international border and coming towards their ambush point. Some of them also had head loads of articles meant for smuggling. The
jawans challenged the approaching smugglers. Instead of surrendering they attacked the BSF jawans with sharp cutting weapons.

Bangladesh Rifles hand suspected behind attack in Agartala, Nov 26

Border Security Force has sent a protest note to the Bangladesh Rifles over their suspected role in the November 21 insurgent attack at Raishyabari in Dhalai district in which four persons
including three BSF jawans were killed. Damodar Sarangi, Additional Director General of BSF said that they are awaiting response from their Bangladeshi counterparts.

Talent hunt for children of lesser Gods Guwahati, Nov 25

An NGO from the north east, known as The Vocational Rehabilitation Centre (VRC) for
Handicapped has come up with a novel plan to infuse a sense of competitiveness in the naturally deprived children from the entire northeast region. On the occasion of World Disabled Day on December 3 next, VRC is hosting a talent hunt with a sports meet in the SAI sports complex in the city, in collaboration with Lions Club of Guwahati.

Villagers free two from police custody in Manipur, Nov 25

In a rare event, more than two hundred villagers of Zoumun attacked Churchandpur police
station and freed two persons from the lockup yesterday evening. Several rounds were fired to
disperse the agitated villagers. One policeman is said to be injured in the incident.
